The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

It’s hard to believe the holiday season is fast approaching. I decided to get into the holiday spirit a little early this year and make a fun Christmas card of my twin boys. I wanted to make something a little out of the norm and untraditional as far as christmas cards go. The whole project took a few days of planning and organizing and the result turned out just how I had imagined (for better or worse:). I knew it was going to be impossible to hang my boys from our fireplace and expect them to be in a good mood. So I decide to make it easier on myself and photograph the scene in stages. The best time to capture some great expressions of my boys would have to be after they had gotten done eating and that’s exactly what I did. As far as fire goes, I live in LA and I don’t think our fireplace really works nor did I really want to find out. Instead, I placed some candles in fireplace to give off a nice glowing effect and added the flames in photoshop. I stuffed the stockings with paper bags I had laying around and decided to go for it. I know it’s a little over the top but that’s what I was going for. I’ve always been a great admirer of David LaChapelle and while I know this is no David LaChapelle image (not even close), I would by lying if I said I wasn’t paying homage to his work.
Below, I have put into sequence all the stages I went through to get the final result. Merry Christmas!
